Since September 2023, the French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME) and the French Biodiversity Agency (OFB) have been developing ACT Biodiversity, a method designed to assess how companies address biodiversity in their action plans.
The initiative has entered a pilot phase. Since June 2025, EVEA has been working with ADEME and OFB to test the method in practice, in collaboration with a group of volunteer companies.
ACT Biodiversity provides a way to evaluate two key aspects of corporate engagement:
Unlike general awareness campaigns, the method targets businesses that have already adopted a biodiversity strategy or transition plan. Its aim is to bring consistency and comparability to the way such efforts are assessed.
EVEA is responsible for testing both the feasibility and the relevance of the method. To do this, the consultancy is assessing the biodiversity strategies of 13 companies from a wide range of sectors, including chemicals, food, energy, construction, transport, retail and waste management.
The participating companies include Bouygues Construction, Carrefour, Cooperl, Eiffage, ENGIE, Michelin, Laboratoires Pierre Fabre, RATPgroup, Renault Group, Séché Environnement, Veolia, wpd France and Yoplait (Coopérative Sodiaal).
For EVEA, this work represents both a technical challenge and a collaborative effort. The project is supported by a dedicated team including Mathilde Audrain, Laurence Beck, Joséphine Bonhomme, Cathy Derail, Laurine Lanuit, Jeanne Serre, Hugo Vasselon and Mathilde Verrier.
The broader ambition is clear: to make biodiversity a more tangible part of corporate strategies. With ACT Biodiversity, ADEME, OFB and EVEA hope to provide businesses with a framework that highlights progress, recognises credible action and points to areas where further effort is needed.
