DIGES 3, the tool for assessing the climate change impacts of anaerobic digestion units, is now available online.

DIGES 3 Calculator is a decision support tool designed for stakeholders in the anaerobic digestion sector.

It has been developed by EVEA to assist them in better understanding the greenhouse gas (GHG) balance of existing or emerging anaerobic digestion and co-digestion projects.

The tool also incorporates: an estimation of carbon storage by energy crops, an energy balance, a nitrogen flux balance, and additional indicators considering circular economy and biodiversity issues.

The calculator comes with a user guide and a user form that provide instructions on how to use the tool. It also summarizes input data. A methodological guide outlines the calculation methods for GHG fluxes, default values for consumptions and yields, considered substrates, their composition data, and emission factors.
