In 2023, the Association Chimie du Végétal (the French Plant Chemistry Association) entrusted EVEA with the drafting of its methodological guide for conducting life cycle assessments (LCA) of bio-based products, which essentially replace fossil raw materials (petroleum, gas, coal) with plant-derived alternatives.
Developed with the support of EVEA, this guide spans 210 pages and is exclusively available to association members. However, a summary note and its 23 practical sheets are open to all industry stakeholders. To receive it, simply reach out to contact@plantchemistry.com.
A heartfelt thank you to the Association Chimie du Végétal and the sustainability task force for steering this fruitful collaboration. Special appreciation also goes to Ecoat for contributing to the co-construction of the case study featured in the guide.
On the EVEA front, a special mention goes to the dream team tackling chemistry, bio-based products, and agriculture challenges: Florine Colbalchini, Domitille Lorthiois, Hugo Vasselon, Aurélie Perrin, Mathilde Ceccaldi, Armelle Gac, and Yves Gérand for their dedication.
Beyond updates from the 2014 guide (new methods, new benchmarks, new databases, etc.), this latest guide serves as a state-of-the-art reference on topics like carbon, water, and biodiversity.
The pragmatic recommendations outlined in this guide are applicable across various sectors. Contact us to learn more!
