From March 25 to 27, 2025, EVEA took part in the must-attend event for point-of-sale marketing: SHOP! Le Salon and C!Brand, held in Paris. Three days of discussions, networking, and commitment to more responsible solutions.
__________
Aude Cellérier, an EVEA expert in environmental and social performance in the fields of interior design and furniture, was a member of the eco-design jury for the SHOP! Awards. This competition recognizes the most innovative projects in POS advertising, merchandising, store layout, digitalization, shopper activation, and street marketing.
Out of a hundred applications, 51 incorporated an eco-design approach. This strong signal from advertisers and POS manufacturers reflects their commitment to reducing the environmental footprint of retail spaces. Many of these projects also underwent environmental assessments to objectively measure their improvements. The results will be announced in June.
__________
Jean-Baptiste Puyou, CEO and founder of EVEA, participated in a roundtable discussion on environmental labels. Other panelists included:
Charlotte Dedeine (Sustainability Committee, SHOP! France),
Hugues Malhere (Eco-Design and Environmental Committee, FESPA France),
Antony Villeger (2FPCO),
Christophe Aussenac (ATC Groupe),
Fabrice Deblock (journalist and independent moderator).
The discussion kicked off with an essential clarification: not all labels are created equal. Some undergo rigorous certification and verification, while others rely solely on self-declaration. The key is to analyze the evaluation criteria, level of requirements, and governance structure (how they are drafted, revised, and monitored).
Experts highlighted several promising trends:
A forthcoming European regulation (Green Claims Directive) to better regulate environmental labels.
The rise of Digital Product Passports (DPPs), which will provide greater access to reliable product information.
Increasing expertise among B2B buyers, who are progressively incorporating environmental criteria into their procurement processes.
Stricter controls and penalties for misleading environmental claims.
These changes could lead to the gradual disappearance of less credible labels. In the long run, environmental information might be directly integrated into product specifications, eliminating the need for separate labels.
In a rapidly evolving market, these developments favor manufacturers and retailers designing responsible products made in France or Europe. A shared sense of optimism among all participants.
EVEA extends its gratitude to SHOP! France for the invitation and for the enriching discussions.
EVEA helps you enhance the environmental and social performance of your spaces (retail spaces, offices, events).
