Comparative Life Cycle Assessment on hydrogen transport

Our Green Chemistry team has returned from the Hyvolution Paris trade fair, the international gathering for all sectors of the hydrogen industry.

Amandine Derbes and Opaline Halet presented the results of our comparative life cycle assessment (LCA-C) on international hydrogen transport, featuring:

• 7 technological transport pathways compared;
• 3 scenarios for importing hydrogen to France from Morocco, Chile, and Australia.

The objectives of the ADEME (the French Agency for Ecological Transition), the project's commissioner, were:

• To inform the public debate on hydrogen importation to France, particularly from distant countries;
• To educate industry stakeholders and the general public about the environmental challenges of importation technologies.
